Partnering with WHC

We will be able to significantly improve homeownership opportunities for low and moderate income families when we partner together... integrating our resources, energy, and expertise, while working toward a common vision of the future. As the most comprehensive clearinghouse of information relating to first-time homebuyers with less weatlh, Washington Homeownership Center is uniquely positioned to provide leadership and a forum for developing partnerships between for-profit and nonprofit housing professionals that have a stake in improving our state's current, and dismal, homeownership ranking of 45th out of 50 states.

We believe that the keys to success in making a significant improvement in homeownership for our neighbors with less weatlh, are twofold:

• develop corporate partnerships based on strong, and sustaining, business models that also help those in need
• refer our clients to individuals - not the institutions.  In order to be successful, our clients need to connect with professionals who are committed to serving first-time homebuyers with less wealth, understand first-time homebuyer assistance programs, and are willing and able to spend the extra time and effort sometimes needed to overcome barriers and reach homeownership.

Builders and developers of low-income, affordable housing for purchase can benefit greatly from a partnership with WHC.  Through follow-up calls to past clients and through our new online newsletter, My Own Home, we are in touch with our clients throughout the homebuying process.  We are able to dissemminate important and useful information to our clients throughout the homebuying process and eventually, we will be able to track the progress of each client so that we can broadcast appropriate information from our partners into specific locales.  For example, we will be able to send information about new construction housing for purchase to targeted clients that are both in the appropriate step in the homebuying process and live relatively close to the available housing.  This is a tremendous service to our clients and also a very effective lead generation tool for our developer partners.
