We will be able to significantly improve homeownership opportunities for low and moderate income families when we partner together... integrating our resources, energy, and expertise, while working toward a common vision of the future. As the most comprehensive clearinghouse of information relating to first-time homebuyers with less weatlh, Washington Homeownership Center is uniquely positioned to provide leadership and a forum for developing partnerships between for-profit and nonprofit housing and lending professionals that have a stake in improving our state's current, and dismal, homeownership ranking of 45th out of 50 states.
We believe that we can significantly change the landscape for homeownership in our state by first collecting the most current information possible from every local service provider in Washington. Our next goal is to make every prospecitvie homebuyer with less wealth aware of Washington Homeownership Center as "their first step to homeownership". This website and subsequent planned improvements will make our information easier to find on the internet and easier to access within the website.
If we are successful, many more low- and moderate-income families and individuals will become knowledgeable and therefore hopeful about the prospect of homeownership. And many more clients will be referred to our local service provider partners in order to receive local direct services that are so critical for so many of our clients.
In the future, we are also looking toward developing a statewide referral system that would allow for shared access to a database, so that each of our service provider partners would be alerted when we have referred a client to them for local services. Such a system could also work in reverse allowing community action and affordable housing agencies to seamlessly "hand off" clients to us when they are ready for homeownership.
Should you wish to volunteer on a committee or on a regional advisory board, have some ideas on how WHC can help you achieve your mission, or any other questions, please contact us by email or call us at (877) 894-4663.
If your agency provides services in the State of Washington related to first-time homeownership, please click here to enter or update your information in our database. It is critical that the information we provide to our clients is as accurate as possible. Thanks.
